    McAfee's scan32.exe runs itself

    Hi,
I have McAfee VirusScan 8 Enterprise but the problem is:

Although there are no schedued tasks, sometimes when computer is idle
or i'm doing smth, scan32.exe which is McAfee's on-demand scan module,
begins running at the background with a lot of CPU use and excessive
HDD activity. No dialog boxes appear. I've updated and completed last
    scan properly.

But what is the reason of self-running of scan32.exe?

    Thank you

Hi Dave, No, I only use it in one computer inside my office. There's
    no setting about this. Why?

I anted to know in case you were in an envirobnemnt where ePO (ePolicy Orchestrator) was in
use. Thus a corporate policy may have been instituted to cause a McAfee Command Line
Scanner scan to be luanched. If it is a singlar computer not in a corporate environment I
can't see why the Command Line Scanner would be lauched. One would think the GUI scanner
    would be launched.

    Hi Dave,
I couldn't find out what you suggested. Could you be more specific? In
Virus-Scan console of McAfee there are no settings related to auto-
    scan except scheduling. SO?

    I'm sorry, I didn't make a suggestion, more of a comment.

The comment being the software would schedule a GUI based scan and not yuse the command line
    scanner.

I am sorry for not being clearer.

I can't see a reason McAfee itself would schedule a command line scanner scan. As you noted
you checked the VirusScan Consile Scheduled tasks.

Have you checked the Scheduled Taks applet in Control Panel ?
