Well, what else is irratating about this is that these free programs
offer no real time protection and thus the pc is not protected - so to
promote them is promoting an even worst sense of security as you said
by just thinking the program sitting there is protecting them without
updating it.
You made the point that these free programs have no Automatic Updates
because they are not paid subscriptions. You also made the point that
since they do not have active shields in real time protection without
automatic updates they are offering no protection whatsoever - so why
promote them ? And what is the point about the updates promotions ?
Why promote that they are protection at all and especially Spybot S&D
and Ad-Aware ? Spybot S&D has continually been rated as one of the
worst for the last four years - why promote it as protection to the
newbie ? Ad-Aware has no real time protection unless you purcahse it
to activate it - so why promote it as protection to the newbie when it
clearly is not ?
This is the other half of these posts - that they are only promoting
things that do nothing in the way of protection, except perhaps after
the fact of infection with Ad-Aware which has a decent rate of
detection of malware. Why promote the false sense of security. You
made this point for me with your reply. Thank you.
