    Is it Enough

Is it sufficient to run a couple of free (updated weekly) antispyware
programmes a week to guard against spyware or should you also use other
antispyware programmes that supposedly stop antispyware actually installing
itself on your computer. If so what are the recommended free ones out
    there?

    TIA

    B.W.

I don't bother with them. I use a limited user account and run firefox with
the noscript plugin so it would be very difficult for any website I don't
trust to install anything without my knowledge. I used to use Winpatrol
which monitors anything trying to change system files and settings though.

    http://noscript.net/

The above applies to XP, for my Vista install I allow Microsoft's Windows
    Defender to run.

    I definitely second Winpatrol.
It isn't foolproof, but lets you stop a lot of things before they can do any
    damage.
