Firewalls and antivirus programs do not actually work together, unless they
are some cobbled up memory hog someone is trying to sell as a package deal.

Sygate Personal Firewall is my favorite, however it has been purchased
lately by Symantec, so that it can be removed for the ranks of free
    solutions.

You can probably find a file to download somewhere. The origianl filename
from when it was available for free download was spf.exe.

    For antivirus I use avast.

Free versions of ZoneAlarm and AVG work together fine, and if you delve into
the ZoneAlarm settings it also monitors your Antivirus.
    (cmsix must be drunk)!
read his take on this at the bottom of my post
