Thread: Missing Quick Launch Bar

    Re: Missing Quick Launch Bar

    Thanks very much for your help!

    I tried both suggestions, the first did nothing. Now the restore point from
    yesterday is available but it won't allow me to manually create another. So
    we have made some progress.

    I still have to manually enable the Quick Launch bar every time I boot up.

    Any more suggestions will be gratefully received.

    Cheers,
    Ken Russell

    Re: Missing Quick Launch Bar

    Are you getting any errors when trying to create a restore point? Try
    disabling SR, reboot, the re-enable it.

    Re: Missing Quick Launch Bar

    This will only work if the path to your system32 folder is
    C:\windows\system32 if it is anything else then don't run it, let me know
    what the path is and I will change the file.

    Cut and paste everything between the lines and paste it into notepad. Save
    the file as ql2.reg and save it to the desktop. make sure you change the
    save as type.... drop down box to all files. Once saved double click on the
    file to merge it into the registry. Reboot.

    Begin cut below this line
    ================================================== =================================
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    "Userinit"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\userinit.ex e,"

    ================================================== ==================================
    End cut above this line

    Try this:

    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs...howdesktop.vbs

    You can also check that things are setup properly by looking at the
    tests/instructions at this site:

    http://windowsxp.mvps.org/QLError.htm

    You might also check here for a few reliable manual steps:
