free housecall scan results? was: spurious or spam/virus e/mails?

    g'day friends,

opted for a free trend micro housecall virus/malware scan.

it found some adware files that it deleted/cleaned.

but there is one notice i can't clean or fix:

"vulnerabilities: (MS05-004) ASP.NET Path validation Vulnerability
    (887219)"

my machine is set to auto update MS updates and as far as i know that
is what happens. i have xp home computer not 12 months old yet..

i searched MS download site for the above and found nothing.

what should i do about it please?

    tia

    thanks david,

yes i did get to that page but from there on in no matter where i
looked i could not find a download or update for that file.

checked the download center as well as windows update. if there is an
update there i don't seem to be able to see it?

Everything is on that page !

    Affected Software:
    - Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0
    - Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1

What you then choose to download will be based upon the OS you have.

    g'day david,

i'm sure win98 updates were easier to understand and decipher.

anyhow went to those 2 files clicked the download button, and saved
download. tried installing neither will install because it says i
    don't have asp.net framework or certain sp's aren't loaded.

now i got no idea what asp.net is all about as far as i know i don't
    deliberately use it.

Run the Scunia Software Inspecter and see what vulnerabilities and data it provides.
