    Webroot AntiSpyware Versus Kaspersky?

    Webroot AntiSpyware Versus Kaspersky

I am have 2 Pcs to protect both have current Norton 2007 "Bloatware"
    ineffective

I will need to uninstall Norton on both PCs
I am thinking of buying either Kaspersky http://www.kaspersky.com/kis6
it costs 80-00 Usdollars which is expensive I think its only for 1
    download license.

    The other Option Is www.webroot.com

    http://www.webroot.com/consumer/prod.../features.html

There is No Firewall BUT there is a 3 user license for $39-95 seems
like great value and 30 day money back gaurantee too.

For Webroots Firewall I think 1 Pc license only for $29-95 Usdollars

    http://www.webroot.com/consumer/prod...HOME-BOTTOM-df

Which product is the best value for money quality and performance wise?
This Products Offer Real Time Scanning Unlike the Freeware Antispyware
    available.

Kaspersky is one of the best A/V. SpySweeper is a spyware and some trojan
app. Webroot just came out with a A/V in SpySweeper but it won't give you
the protection KAV will give you. If you can afford it get both if not get
KIS. You get what you pay for.

Just to add to Gary's comments, Heidi, if you combine security apps,
make sure that they play nice together (no conflicts). IIRC, some
versions of SpySweeper (real-time enabled) caused problems with KAV 6.
I believe, though, that these issues have been resolved with the
latest version of SS. If you have any questions, check out the KL
    Users Forum.

You must register (it's gratis) in order to post.

The firewall is another issue. There are a few that just won't work
with KAV. Before you buy a license for KAV, evaluate it (I suggest
that you evaluate KIS) free for 30 days.

Do you know whether Comodo works well with KAV? I'm
presently running NOD32 but when my sub is up, I'm thinking
    of changing over.

I'm also presently running an ancient version of Sygate and
feel that it needs to be replaced - am considering Comodo -
I do have a NAT router.

    Thoughts greatly appreciated

    Louise,

I have seen posts from many people who are using Comodo with KAV 6. To
my knowledge, there is nothing special required. Many of the KAV
installations work best, however, if KAV 6 is installed with only the
WinXP FW enabled, and no other PFW installed. After KAV is up and
running, then a third-party FW can be successfully installed. More FW
    info:

    http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=16036

    http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=193239309

To my knowledge, Sygate is the only PFW that will not work (for many
people) with KAV 6, and no one will look into it because Sygate is a
dead product. IIRC, some people have reported problems with AVS and
Kerio 2.1.5. I have used Jetico, S-K PFW 4.3, and the WinXP SP2 FW
with KAV 5 and KAV 6 with no problems. I have also used AVS, virtually
identical to KAV 6. Comodo is next on my list to evaluate.

If you decide to evaluate KAV, I suggest that you get a free 30-day
    license for the suite (KIS).

    http://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/t...aw=downloadspg

You can then use the KIS installer and license to install and evaluate
anything that you want, including only KAV. You can also try AVS
first, and take your time. That way you won't waste your 30 days
evaluating stuff included in AVS, and can focus on the HIPS stuff
included with KAV, but not AVS --- Web AV, PDM, etc.

    http://www.activevirusshield.com/ant...eav/index.adp?

Just don't install the AOL Security Toolbar. Uncheck the box during
the installation. Before you install any version of KAV, see Don's
    sticky about removing other AVs.

    http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=5233

BTW, MP2 (Maintenance Pack 2) is slated for release at the end of this
month. This will make KIS/KAV compatible with Vista. I don't know if
MP2 will be implemented into AVS, as that probably depends on who is
    paying the bills (AOL).
