My sister in law has had a problem (DELL computer using WinXP SP2, I.E. 7) -
whenever she tried to use ebay, whatever she searched for, she would be
redirected to Dell's own search page. I spotted right at the end of this
process a message that it was opening 127.0.0.1 On the Dell page there was
always the same message that a site couldn't be found. I didn't make a note
of the full address, but saw that it contained //view.atdmt.com.

I had a look in the hosts file that i had installed for her a while ago
(MVPS) - and sure enough there was a reference to atdmt.com. When I disabled
the HOSTS file, ebay started working fine, and if I reneabled it, ebay
stopped working again.

I also looked in the registry and there was a reference to atdmt.com in
HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE .......P3P/History

I ran the latest version of Windows defender - found nothing. Downloaded the
free version of SuperAntiSpyware, and it found nothing other than tracking
cookies which I allowed it to get rid of.

A Google search talks about atdmt.com as spyware, but SAS and Defender found
nothing

So can anyone explain:

- what atdmt.com is
- why should it's presence in the HOSTS file be blocking ebay
- would you expect SAS to find and deal with it

I've since checked on my own computer, and the reference to it is in my
HOSTS file as well, but it has no effect on using ebay
