What an amazing coincidence, since the list I have been posting here
for many months now looks surprisingly similar, though I don't use
"avast!" but only listed it as an alternative to AVG, which I do use.
But you say you have them both installed. Experts advise against ever
having more than one full AV program installed at a time.

I realize this is only a miraculous, astonishing coincidence, and
was in no way intended to plagiarize my short list without giving any
    credit where credit is due.

Your list? Anybody can make a list yet you feel the need to receive credit
    for it.

Thanks for the reply, Gerry. I do know that everything
here is public domain. Imitation, flattery, we have all
done it from time to time. I copied each link separately
from messages I have read on a.p.s. It's just putting them
together into one short list that's different, or was.

I'm just glad that these expert programmers provide free
ware versions of their hard work, which we all benefit from.
I can't believe how many spy ware and virus threats there are
out there these days. And the list of malware disguised as
anti spyware is getting longer as well. All the spam,
identity theft is rampant, stalkers, and child preditors.

It's getting quite dangerous just to be connected to the
internet. I don't know how ordinary computer users, who don't
know about these anti virus and anti spy programs, keep their
    machines running.

Nothing wrong with "avast!" I have heard from others that
it is a good free AV program. I would probably try it out,
but then I'd feel compelled to uninstall AVG first, which is
more work than I care to do. So far, knock on wood, the AVG
resident shield has caught a couple of trojans that none of
the other resident anti spy programs caught. So I know it
works. A lot of people swear by it.
