Here's something else to add. It is a free tool but is not a anti malware scanner or
FireWall application. It is something completely different. It's a vulnerability
assessment tool from Secunia. Secunia is a well known an authorative source of
vulnerability and exploitation information. If you read the Microsoft HotFix documentation
hyou will often see Secunia quoted as a reference.

Using the below web page, a Java Applet is launched taht will examine the system's OS and
installed applications for vulnerable versiosn of utilities, applications or singular files.

In a corporate envronment we use software such Digital eEye's Retina and Harris Stat to
perform an Information Assurance Vulnerability Assesment. The Secunia Software Inspector is
a simple and effective tool for the home user.
