NOD 32 trial version update "Server connection failure"?

Why am I getting the message "Server connection failure" when I try to
manually update the trial version of NOD32? Firewall access is enabled.

There is some mention of a user name and password for paid users, but there
seems to be no way for me to implement that.

The definition file that came with the trial is 11/16/06, much too much out
of date to evaluate the product.

    What am I doing wrong?

    TIA

under update/setup - make sure it says "choose server
    automatically"

Contact ESET - ask why your trial build is not functioning correctly.

When I contacted ESET with this problem, I received:

"An ESET Customer Care Representative has updated this case with the
    following information:

    Hello,
The Trial is only good for 30 days.

    Thank you"

Although explicitly informed differently, apparently ESET nonetheless
persists in assuming both that I am inquiring about a trial product
downloaded prior to 11/16/06 and that the trial currently offered for
download on its Web site contains a current threat update. Neither breeds
    confidence.

    What am I missing?

Apparently ESET is missing something. You could post your issues at the
    official ESET/NOD32 Forum - http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15
Or, download another trial - if you choose to do this, make sure you have uninstalled
the previous trial via Add/Remove Programs.

    Good luck!
