    Susicious dll

    Have a file called "newadvsplash.dll" in my temp folder. Does anyone know
    any thing about it?

    Do you use WinAmp by any chance? Or Firefox?

    some references to it on Google as being a splash screen process (the
    banner that comes up when you open a program)

    that would explain it as the portable versions would put it in a temp
    folder. Seems to be completely OK, just unfortunately named.

    Files in your Temp folder are not needed, Kat.
    Assuming Windows XP, boot into Safe Mode;
    http://************/5vbi

    From a Run Box, type "%temp%" (no quotes) --> delete the /entire/
    contents of the file. CTRL + A + D, if you like keyboard shortcuts.
    Post back *if* the DLL reappears.
