Wild Tangent is needed for certain games, atleast it is needed for the
games that came on my Dell pc but I think most people consider it
spyware.I haven`t had a problem with it but I assume others have.

Please do not post in HTML to this text-only newsgroup. Thanks.

Here is what you posted (which I leave unsnipped for illustration),
including over a dozen links to graphic files, one of which is an
animated bee, and to pages with music:

Sorry about that on a webtv we have the ability to turn off our html sig
which I did but I didn`t realize the html code would still be seen in
here. The html sig has now been removed for this post.

Good job; thanks very much. Yes, I know the problems with WebTV. <g>

If you are using that sig in email, are you sure your recipients really
want to have that extra baggage in all the mail from you? Many kilobytes
    of images and music?

That sig only goes out to other webtv recipients who don`t mind it.I`m
posting from my webtv because I like it`s newsreader but I have a pc and
and use a sigless email there--you`re right a html sig isn`t appreciated
by most including myself when on my pc.

Same with Compaq. I bought a laptop and it had a TON of wild tangent
games and such. I almost hate buying a new computer anymore because of
all the crap they put on it. You would think that it should fall under
some kind of antispam law or something. When I buy a computer I want two
things, the computer and the OS. I think someone (Dell, sony, HP or some
other big player) should sell a computer with nothing on it and sell the
    OS separate. IMHO

Great Idea. But Microsoft wouldn't allow that. The box and the OS must
be mated for registration purposes. So you really can't buy a computer
    without an operating system.

Of course you can. The computer I am using was purchased with a blank
hard drive, just as I ordered it from the computer store a few miles
away. I took it home, partitioned the drive, and installed both my
retail copy of Win2K and a copy of Ubuntu. I also could have purchased
it with nothing more than bog-standard XP, but I didn't want XP.

Depends on where you shop, and your level of experience. Newbies need
    not apply, I suppose.

With a day's worth of research you can find out how the parts go
together and what goes with what, after that it's easy. It has to be,
I've been doing it for years.

A couple of years ago my brother expaneded his roofing business in
Plano, right after a major hail storm. They generate a lot of business
all at one time. He rented a larger office and needed three machines
very fast so I bit the bulled and picked him out some Compaqs. It was
a serious pain removing all the "extra features" but we thought it
would be faster than building three from scratch, and since the
Compaqs were being kicked by HP who'd just swallowed Compaq up they
were reasonably cheap for what they were. It was hard on me though,
    removing all the crap.
