One of my customers asked me about this. He said the pop-up had a link
which led him to a page that made no mention of the free version, and he
assumed that they weren't providing a free version anymore. I went and
looked at it and I didn't see any mention on that page either. So I went
directly to free.grisoft.com and it was there.
I guess you can't blame them for trying to make a buck or two.
