    Spybot Search and Destroy problem

I'm running Spybot ver 1.4 on a WinXP system. It has worked just fine
for years until yesterday. I ran it and about 85% of the way done, it
stops and I get an error box that says: There is no disk in the drive.
Please insert disk into Drive D:.

It lets me cancel, put in disk and retry, or continue. It has never
done that before. I have run it 5 times and I get the same result. I
can't find a place in the settings to ignore the CD drive. I
downloaded a different version of Spybot and installed that and got
    the same results.

It doesn't do it on any other computers.

Does anyone know my problem and how to solve it please?

    Thanks

A fault on the hard disk may (or may not) prompt this error. In any case it
wouldn't do any harm to check the hard disk from time-to-time anyway.

Right-click on the hard disk in Windows Explorer and click on
    <Properties><Tools><Check Now> Tick both boxes and <Start>

Try going into settings/directories just in case something is set in there.

    The settings/directory was empty.

Whoever suggested running "Error Checking", thank you. That did the
trick. Spybot works like it should now and doesn't ask for a disk in
    the D: drive.

Just curious - and a little confused :-)

For the last several years I've been going to the command
prompt and typing chkdsk c: /r. I'm then told it will run
when the computer is rebooted, I reboot and run it.

However, your description above certainly looks a lot
simpler - will it do the same thing?

    TIA

    Louise
