A fault on the hard disk may (or may not) prompt this error. In any case it
wouldn't do any harm to check the hard disk from time-to-time anyway.

Right-click on the hard disk in Windows Explorer and click on
    <Properties><Tools><Check Now> Tick both boxes and <Start>

    Regards.

Just curious - and a little confused :-)

For the last several years I've been going to the command
prompt and typing chkdsk c: /r. I'm then told it will run
when the computer is rebooted, I reboot and run it.

However, your description above certainly looks a lot
simpler - will it do the same thing?

    TIA

    Louise
