I have removed Spybot-Search & Destroy through the Control Panel,
Add-Remove, and it no longer shows up there. However when I go to My
Computer, look under programs, it's still there. I try to delete it out,
but get the following message: Cannot Delete - SDHelper.dll access is
denied.
How do I remove this program from my computer?

Reboot before trying to delete it. If that does not help, you need to use
something like bhohelper to remove the reference from the browser, reboot and
then delete it.

Open Internet Explorer, go to Internet Options/Programs then click the
manage addons button. Disable the sdhelper.exe from Safer Networking. You
should be able to delete that folder now. If not just boot into safe mode
and do it.

I'd like to hear the reasoning on that myself. I'll admit they've had
some issues a time or two, but they were mostly just annoying.

What other ones that are free are better? Multi layered approach is best
and I use Spybot, Adaware, Spywareblaster, SuperAntiSpyware and an
extensive Hosts file to block many bad sites.

How do you know it is weak unless you have Spyware for it to detect? I've
seen it work in action and for a free app it is good.

They can't unless they deliberately put adware/spyware on their PC and then
see if Spybot detects it or not over other anti-spyware apps. I've seen
Spybot detect stuff that Adaware hasn't before. Anyway, it's best to use a
multi-layered approach and Spybot stays on my PC along with about four
other apps I use.
