I'll answer that. It is a very weak program and most other free ones work
    better.
I removed it last week with absolutely no ill effects.

For four good books to read look at...

Buy three or four altogether and get economy postage.

Same opinion here Quilly. BTW, I did get it out of my computer. I sure
    won't put it back.

How do you know it is weak unless you have Spyware for it to detect? I've
seen it work in action and for a free app it is good.

    Hi

Curious as to how you determined that it "is a very weak program", if
    you have time to answer.

I'd like to hear the reasoning on that myself. I'll admit they've had
some issues a time or two, but they were mostly just annoying.

They can't unless they deliberately put adware/spyware on their PC and then
see if Spybot detects it or not over other anti-spyware apps. I've seen
Spybot detect stuff that Adaware hasn't before. Anyway, it's best to use a
multi-layered approach and Spybot stays on my PC along with about four
    other apps I use.

I have no desire to stop anyone else from using Spybot. I guess we all use a
multilayered approach. I find by using AdAware and SUPER Antispyware and
Spybot in turn, the two others pick up a lot of stuff and Spybot picks up
very little. I rotate them to give each an equal chance. I now also use
AVGAntiSpy and Counterspy, payware, both of which are very good indeed. So I
consider Spybot redundant on my machine as I feel well protected.
Nothing against it ,or its kind provider personally, but I find I have
little use for it that's all.

What other ones that are free are better? Multi layered approach is best
and I use Spybot, Adaware, Spywareblaster, SuperAntiSpyware and an
extensive Hosts file to block many bad sites.

Weak you reckon? I've used it from it's birth, yes it's had it's minor
faults over the years but IMO as a free anti Bot app it does it's job as
well as any other including paid for apps, generally better. Patrick
Kolla stated from it's beginning he'd keep it free and to date he has.
Of course it doesn't get them all, but tell me what does. As a matter
of interest, how about you giving a come back regarding those other
    "work better free ones".

    Here is one review
    http://www.pcpro.co.uk/labs/133/anti.../products.html

    There are others:
    http://www.consumersearch.com/www/so...s/reviews.html

For some reason, Spybot S&D always comes in at the bottom enf of these
tables... (I still use it, BTW)
