Warning: PrimoPDF suspected as spyware

I just downloaded PrimoPDF 3.0 to try it out:

And it wouldn't do *anything* if you don't grant it full access to the
Internet via your Personal Firewall...

Why does it have to access the Internet in order to create a file on my
local disk from a file that is on my local disk?

I suppose it wants to keep a tally of how many people, and how often,
the program is used, being free'n'all. I doubt if there is anything
malicious going on. Others do it as well, for example:

Set your firewall to Alert on the call, and block it. It *should* still
create your PDF document - at least pdf995 will.

That is exactly what I did with PrimoPDF (set firewall to Alert on the
call, and block it) and when I do that, it wouldn't create the PDF
document (unlike pdf995). That is why I posted my warning here.

pdf995 explicitly says that the free version will pop up the default
browser with an ad each time you create a PDF. With PrimoPDF, on the
other hand, I didn't notice anything like this. Perhaps it is not
malicious, but I certainly trust pdf995 more... I am now using pdf995.
