    Is it worth the $30?

Hello all, I'm here again from A-S FM.

Today, I posting a guide on whether or not it's worth it to buy an
Anti-Spyware program, or even use the free version. Please note that
the order of these programs are irrevilent. it's just the order I put
    them down in.

    First Runner: Spybot - S&D
    Worth the buy: N/A
    Worth the use: Nope
While this may be a very popular option, and it's really fast, it just
doesn't make the cut. It only scans in known locations, which can prove
bad if the definitions are even one day out-of-date. An old spyware can
be improved to target new places, and if Spybot doesn't pick it up, BAM
    goes your system.
    Score: 2/5

Second Runner: SUPERAntiSpyware (My personal favorite)
Worth the buy: Sorry, but not really.
    Worth the use: Definately.
This is, personally, my favorite program. It picks up stuff nothing
else finds. But for 29.95, the few added features just aren't worth it.
Should you download it? You'd be a fool if you didn't. But you'd also
be gullible if you bought it.
    Score: 10/5

    Third Runner: Ad-Aware
    Worth the buy: Yes.
    Worth the use: Yes.
Ah, the infamous program itself. A long time favorite, a top scanner,
and finally worth it too. With it's pratically endless benefits of buy,
this is worth the three seconds to download and worth the 29.95 to
boot. It's scanning definitions are only slightly below S.A.S., but
it's buy is more then worth it.
    Score: 4/5

    Fourth Runner: Windows Defender
    Worth the buy: N/A
    Worth the use: You wish.
I really don't need to put anything here, do I? Come on people, use
    your imagination. It sucks.
    Score: 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000 x 3

    Fifth Runner: Webroot Spysweeper
Worth the buy: Only if you're paranoid or like Freeze.com.
    Worth the use: N/A
Wow, finally a program with the N/A in use instead of buy. But really,
come on. I hate to bring up S.A.S. again, I really do, but really. For
    39.95, S.A.S. is it's free equivilent.
    Score: 3/5

    Sixth Runner: Spyerase
    Worth ****: Nope.

If no one ever bought it the program wouldn't exist. Someone has to support
    you free-loaders.

I've never used it but am going to check it out now. I've already got
Sybot, Adaware, Spywareblaster and use MVPSHosts file and never get spyware
on my PC. But then I use noscript in Firefox so it's kind of hard to get
infected when no websites can run java scripts unless I allow them.

How would you know? Just because it's not worth it to you means nothing.
Others might find $29.95 cheap for the "few added features".

If you enter a magic word in the coupon section during your purchase
    (until 10/31) it's only $19.95.[1]

The only (minor) objection I have against SUPERAntiSpyware is that once a
day on bootup it takes a long time to update and scan the system before the
computer is "really" available. I guess this is the price to pay for
    safety!!

    What you say, Nick?

Set it to not load on startup or auto download updates. I've instaled it
now and set it to manual control. It found zero issues and that is what I
expected. I can't realy comment on how good it is though because there are
no issues for it to detect or fix. I'll leave it installed for now and see
    how it goes.

You can set SUPERAntiSpyware not to load on startup and/or not to
autocheck for definition updates on startup - then there would be no
delay - we may add some more control options regarding this in future
    versions.
