| What I'm thinking of is using Avast as my main AV program (with it's
| multiple shields). Is there anyway of installing AVG or Avira free
| versions and not have it load as a startup program, so that it can be run
| as a 2nd AV check when necessary?
|
| I was thinking of a normal install (where they usually insinuate their
| dll's or exe files into resident memory), then using either MSCONFIG, Mike
| Lin's startup, or Process Explorer's Autorun utility to remove the process
| from running (or just do a regedit command myself). I would also check
| services to see if a service was added and change it from AUTO to manual
| (or disable and run it when necesssary).
No. NOT a good idea at all !
