    | Just what is going on with the Java Runtime updates? I have JRE 5 update 8
    | installed. I just checked www.java.com and it is offering update 6.
    |
    | I recall some time ago that update 9 had been pulled but hadn't heard that 8 and
    | 7 had also been pulled.

There are *many* experts and novices alike saying the same thing, "what the f**k !", while
    scratching their head in disbelief.

I hadn't heard anything......and I do have update 9 on here. Is it
supposed to be removed and replaced with 8?? I still have 7 and 8 in my
downloaded programs folder, so could replace it. But I have had
    absolutely no problems with it.

    Cheers.....Heather

It is, darlin'.....I was just too lazy to type in version 5. I have the
latest update cuz I saw you mention it on here.

You would think they could advise you when a new one comes out......and
as someone else says, make it so it removes the existing version. OTOH,
I prefer to uninstall myself and then I know it is ALL gone.

    Cheers...Heather

I would think the Sun could do much better in *many* areas concerning its Java product.

    They suck at...

    Security bulletins
    Identifying security related issues
    Producing security updates
    Removing old versions
Keeping web sites correlated and up-to-date

    To say the least...
