    Firefox.

A question. You say "stick with firefox" yet you post with IE and the
    Avant shell. Why is that?

    X-HTTP-UserAgent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0;
Avant Browser; Avant Browser; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR
    2.0.50727),gzip(gfe),gzip(gfe)

IE7 will not work with Windows 2000.

I prefer IE7. The main reason is I like the x for closing a tab on the tab
    itself.

Opera has this function as well. Re Firefox, you must have an extension
that puts an "x" on a tab. With Firefox, pressing Ctrl-W will close the
    tab with the focus.

I have 1.5.0.7 which I believe is the newest non-beta. It doesn't have this
feature. I use both but find I prefer IE7. Until the gold version was
reeased I used Firefox almost exclusively on this machine as no beta
software gets anywhere near it. I have been using IE7 in Vista on a test
machine since last June. Now that the gold version of IE7 is out I've
installed it for everyday use on this machine. So far I like it enough that
I've changed it to be the default browser. In the context of this newsgroup
so far in it's default configuration it seems a little more secure than
Firefox's default. The anti-phishing and privacy options are big improvement
over IE6. Only time will tell if it's any more or less exploitable than IE6
or Firefox. I suspect it won't really matter in XP because everyone runs as
administrator so any software can eventually be exploited.

I tried the last beta before release. It worked well, and was
slightly quicker than Foxfire. It did not break any existing add-ons,
but it did bend a couple. Probably rendering issues. It clearly did
break my RSS reader, SHARPREADER. I reverted to IE6 since IE7 doesn't
offer any obvious benefits since I primarily use Firefox for browsing.
Of course, there are clearly compatible replacements for the minor
issues. A new computer is in the offing, and I will being starting
relatively clean and use IE7 and compatibles, though I hope
    SHARPREADER gets tweaked.

Ah, Information. A property, too valuable these days, to give it away,
    just so, at no cost.

Check the Tab Mix Plus extension for FF. You can close individual tabs
    and more.
