Amarok music player

Yeah, when you install it make sure you immediately go to the
preferences section and in the part dealing with "audio scrobbler" - it
sounds so cute and cuddly eh? - make sure everything is un-ticked.
The default is for amarok to upload the name of the artist to lastfm.com
of every track you play using amarok.

....I don't see the problem. So? As long as it doesn't transmit personal
information, who cares? It might even improve Fast.fm's already
kick-ass media finder.

Your IP number is inextricably linked to any data received by
lastfm.com/audio scrobbler. Recall the AOL internet search fiasco.
And while your about it think what google knows about you.

I can live without fastfm.com/audio scrobbler.

I gave Google my Address for AdSense. I know exactly what Google knows
about me, but guess what? I DON'T CARE. I know that it tracks every one
of my searches, clicks, etc. But Google is also the only major search
engine that refused to give the information to the government, unlike
Yahoo! and AOL. And, talking about AOL, Google also didn't give out
information about 200,000 of it's members online. I'm 100% pro-Google.
