Google asks to spy via webcam and microphone - what a cheek.

I was watching the terrorstorm video (via a google search) when I right
clicked on the video where I saw google asking permission to watch and
listen (to me I presume) via my web cam and microphone (which I don't have
btw). Not sure but I think they asked me for my permission to let them do
    this at any time.
It just gets worse and worse.

If you have Macromedia Flash (since sold to Adobe - the pdf folks)
your camera and microphone, by default, belong to them. You can "opt
out," presuming you trust their web site to opt you out - since this
is something you need to do via scripts enabled.

You still can't ditch their "persistent cookies" which web sites that
    use flash can access.

Unplug the camera and microphone if you got'em . . .

    Interesting about flash. Thanks.

Keep in mind that when you patch/update your Windows OS/Office Suite
on Patch Tuesday each month, your Flashcrap settings will be reset to
default. That means that if you spend 20 minutes on the
Adobe/MacroMedia web site getting rid of all of the default
adware/spyware Flashcrap settings, you will have to redo this each and
    every month.

For me, it was just easier to get rid of the damned thing (Flashcrap
Player). If this scenario has changed recently, I wouldn't know. You
have to have a Flashcrap Player in order to use the MacroMedia web
    site. Screw 'em.

I agree about flash crap as being crap but sometimes you have to have it
but you know, perhaps it's time to take a stand and email everytime when
someone only provides content in flash format and let them know what you
think about it and why you wont be viewing their content.

There's gotta be a better way? Flash insinuates itself into the
browser? So why use Internet Exploder / Outhouse Express? Use
Mozilla and the "flash block" extension.

That way all flash scripts are blocked unless you allow them.

And the idea that we should go to a web site, enable scripts, just to
set privacy settings? Get real. How do we know that Flash is really
not accessing the camera/mic? This is set on software on their
machine? Am I the only one that has a problem with that?

    Use a good firewall . . . .

Roger that. If it uses flash - I don't want to see it.
