    Yeah, that would be my luck too...that's why I won't do it...I'd like to use this job as a reference too, so I decided that even on my last day I'm not gonna do that...

    by law, the onlything your employer can say is that you worked there from this date to that date. They cannot give an opinion.

    Granted they can't give an opinion, but if asked if they would recommend a job with people or something they can say one way or the other, granted it's not professional, but some do....I got F'ed by the gas station I worked for in a situation like that.

    I got shortchanged one night when we were REALLY busy, and we ALWAYS only had ONE person working. After the fact I knew it happened, but it was $100. They fired me for it, and tried to say that I was embezzling. Well, they didn't have any proof and to me a quick $100 isn't worth your job. But I was putting them on my resume and I could NOT get a job. The week after I took them off, I got a job.

    The last place that my mom worked for, she had the manager call and get a reference for me...no wonder I wasn't getting a job...

    I try to leave on the best terms possible.

    Gas station/convience store jobs suck anyway you look at it. I worked at one almost 3 years. I almost got fired once for argueing with the manager in front of customers. Later she told me the only reason she didn't fire me was that me and about three other employees were the only ones she was convienced she could rely on to be at work when scheduled.

    Yeah, I've always been reliable and VERY flexible. But that is one situation I won't go back to...just like fast food...but let's not go into that one.

    That's kinda what I thought...they can't legally say you are unfit for a job, but they can NOT recommend you for something...
