This is the umptheen time but here we go again :-)

Launchpad's purpose: To show what other products were available from
    Comodo.
Replacement: Nothing... you have to go our website to find out what
    products available.

Do you think that having adware in your product has heart your
    business reputation?

The answer is no, because we never had adware in our product!

Comodo has never had adware in their product.

And Comodo's reputation improves all the time, because Melih listens to
his users. Every time an issue arises, he's there to deal with it. You
don't see too many other company heads taking the time and making the
effort he does to keep his customers happy.

The way I see it; any product specifically designed to advertise
products is adware. You obviously decided it was better to remove the
adware, which is a good thing, but for those who have never used your
products (I'm one of them) the stain of that initial bad decision is
bad for your business. I had hoped you would have realized that and
    acknowledge it as a mistake.

    From my perspective they did.

I'm not disputing that at all. What I'm saying is that the Launchpad
addition to their product did more harm to them the they are
apparently willing to admit. There have been enough testimonials to
satisfy me that Comodo has very good products, but if they can't admit
to making a mistake with Launchpad, that just puts me (and I would
    suspect many other people) off.

I think perhaps you are making a mountain out of a molehill.

I didn't like the LaunchPad. I thought it was a pain in the ass, and I
stopped using the associated product as a result. Still, the product I
continue to use (one for which I have paid), is excellent. And the free
products just continue to get better.

If one removes a feature, I'd say that's a pretty substantive admission
that it was not a good feature. Were you hoping for a press release and
a mea culpa? If so, I think you're asking too much.

I'm really more interested in the fact that Comodo listens to the users
of its (free) products and accomodates their needs. Positive action
speaks a whole lot more loudly than apologies, IMO.

i would tend to agree, more or less... my feeling is that a good
functional definition for adware is software that displays ads for
    something other than itself...

that said, i'm also aware that most people don't use the term that
way... most only bother with the label at all when the software also
    has trojan properties...

actually i used to see it a lot more... not anymore, though - the
cost/benefit ratio got all screwed up...

You mean to tell me that all that pissing and moaning he's been doing
was about a free version? Surely you jest?
