So, I'm assuming you don't use Google, or any of their products, since
    they advertise everywhere.

yes, i would classify them as trojans too... but to be more specific i
    would call them adware trojans...

i'm just making a distinction between the more benign ad-displaying
software and the stuff that security tools go after... for example, a
lot of people were uncomfortable calling earlier free versions of the
opera browser 'adware' even though it was ad supported...

Easily remedied by two hosts entries, but they now offer it ad-free. lest
one think he gets less baggage without ads, did you see the early Mozillla
releases? Lots of great crap for developers, but...and still no spyware on
either browser (I think Opera allowed one to type in preferences, but it
wasn't required. If you think that is invasive you haven't really loooked
at Micros**t products in a while, huh?

After reading this thread all that comes to mind is Kaspersky's partnership with AOL which
puts an adware toolbar into the package. However, as Art Kopp's tests show, this can easily
NOT be installed and the software works great (according to Art Kopp and others).

This partnership and bundling has'nt hurt Kaspersky !

I'm sure the Beta version of Comodo AV will overide any/all doubts.

Well, duh, one would think the fact they removed launchpad from the product
supports that they ackowledge a mistake was made. The product is free, give
    the guy a freakin' break!
