    MVP Host File Question

    For about a year, I had been using a program to strip out the comments
    in the MVP host file. Last week, I had to do a clean re-install
    because of XP Sp2 problems with an old bios. And I lost track of the
    fine little program (hostess ?). At any rate, I d/l the current MVP
    HOST file and noticed that Ad-aware seemed happy with this file. So
    it seems that I don't need to strip out those comments? Am I missing
    something?

    Re: MVP Host File Question

    I have never stripped out the comments and have never had a problem with
    AdAware.

    The comments are added for a reason and can be *very* useful.
    Borrowing from the author of the file:
    <quote>
    Note: the "text" version also make a good reference for determining culprit
    URLs.
    </quote>
    That would be viewing HOSTS via notepad or HOSTS editor, if you run one
    like HOSTESS.
