    SpyBot S&D false selection

I just ran SpyBot S&D with the 8/4/05 update.

With the previous settings it reported no problems. With the new settings it
reports a problem with MySoft - Redirected host desktop.kazaa.com=127.0.0.1. I
am guessing here but it is likely that this is being picked up from the MVS
    Hosts file in use here.

Am I reading this correctly as a false selection or should I quarantine it?

Same here. Since I never had KaZaa on my computer, and since it's in my
hosts file, I suppose it's a false detection. But if anybody knows
better I'll be glad to hear it.

Please understand I'm only guessing here, but the description indicates
it's a false positive. I don't write redirects to my HOSTS file so I don't
get this "error" (yes, I'm using the same update as you are).

    One way to find out...

Turn on Advanced Mode (from the menu bar) if it isn't already. Using
SETTINGS from the left-hand menu, open the sub-entry that is also called
settings (language, file sets, then settings, from top to bottom). On the
right, scroll down to the bottom and look for a group called EXPERT
SETTINGS. Check the boxes for the two entries that begin with "Show
    buttons for..."

    Run your scan again.

On the line that has the kazaa entry, you should have a "+" sign out to
the left. Click on it. It will expand and show you where it found the
reference. If it says it's your HOSTS file, then you've found a bug in the
latest release. If it says it's somewhere else, you'll need to make a
judgement call; is it in a place you expect it to be? If not, quarantine
    or delete it, as necessary.

    Hope this helps...

    Cheers!
