    Word 2000

    HI Everybody
When I open word, I keep on getting the same letter that
I had written 8/9 months ago, even when I press new document, the letter
still keeps coming up. How do I get rid of this letter, (because I have save
    it) permanently

    Thanxs

Why would you post this in a privacy/apyware group? Do you suspect the
problem is related to a macro virus?

Try running sysclean_fe from the below address.

Examine the shortcut that you used to launch word.

Is it a shortcut to a pointer in the Registry ?
Is it a shortcut to the WINWORD.EXE executable ?
Is it a shortcut to the WINWORD.EXE executable loading a DOC file ?
Is it a shortcut that points to a DOC file improperly named ?
Is it a case of a document that was improperly saved as a template such as NORMAL.DOT ?

In any case it is doubtful it is a case of an infector. It is a problem that would be
better asked in an appropriate Microsoft Office or MS Word specific News Group.

    Unlikely a spyware/malware/privacy issue.

More likely you have overwritten your normal.dot template - the template
Word uses each time it opens. Ordinarily, normal.dot should be a blank
sheet, yours contains a letter you wrote and somehow saved in
    normal.dot's place.

Locate normal.dot on your system (it may be a hidden file so set Windows
to display hidden files) and then delete it, then restart Word. You
should find it opens a blank page as Word will recreate normal.dot as
    such.

You might like to save your 'old' letter as something else first though
if you already haven't done so?

FYI, there are Microsoft related newsgroups that will deal with the
finest specifics of achieving that which is outlined above.
