Hi Dave,

Ran Trend and Adaware as suggested but they didn't find anything. Looks like
these HDplugin1018 files might have been left over from a previous
infestation my wife PC got 6 months ago. I've deleted them at the command
prompt and all scans now appear clear.

Trend took about an 90 mins to run and messed with my hosts file adding
213.222.11.11 auto.search.msn.com. That looked very sus to me so I ran all
my other antivirus tools as a precaution (nothing new found) and then
deleted that entry in the hosts file.

All seems ok now. Thanks.

Trend Sysclean does NOT modify the 'hosts' table by making additions. If it is modifies by
something known it may declare the a "QHosts" variant. The only modification it will make
is to either delete the hosts file or remove entries.
