Did you explicitly *ask* for those bulk/commercial/promotional e-mail
messages? If not, then they *are* spam, regardless of whether or not you
subsequently decide that it is "helpful" or "forgivable" spam.

This is not a matter of "opinion"; it is simply a matter of the definition of
spam (bulk and/or commercial/promotional/advertising e-mail that is sent
without the fully informed explicit and express permission of the recipient).

Did you read those references I pointed you at?

I'm so glad that strawman of your own invention provides you with so much
    amusement.

It's always a nice relief when bratty children can entertain themselves.
