I was recently hijacked by Mule12 from the online game, outwar.com. This
torqued me off something fierce since I did not give my consent, and could
not find any solutions, until I stumbled across it myself. I have reported
the incedent to Outwar.com, but also wanted to post somewhere useful to the
user community.
If you are hijacked by outwar.com, or anything else in such a manner that
your browser is loading an unwanted page when you start windows... check the
following registry key:
Key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
In my case, I didn't find the offender at first, because it appeared to be a
valid program. But, after investigation, it actually loaded my browser to
the outwar page (I'm guessing a simple VB executable):
Name:
netcom32.exe
Value:
C:\Windows\system32\netcom32.exe
Adaware and Spybot did not find this hijack.
Good Luck
