    Spybot running slooooow . . .

It takes almost 30 mins for Spybot S&D to scan my hard drive (12 GB of data
on the drive, XP Home O/S). By contrast, Ad-Aware runs in around 3-4 mins.
Both are updated regularly. Does it sound like there's something on my
computer interfering with Spybot that I haven't been able to detect?

SpyBot and Ad-aware should not be compared for scan-times since they
use different code. SpyBot should take ~6 mins. on a typical Huge HD.

Something is amiss, have you been fiddling with the expert settings?

I run this on a lot of computers. On some machines, spybot takes about
2 minutes. On others, it takes about 25 minutes. Both would have about
the same CPU speed and HD data. Not sure why there is such a huge
difference in scan times, but it's nothing to worry about.

Anti-virus settings can contribute as well, as can spywareguard scanning
(its acting alot like av too). Processes that are running may not directly
interfere but windows may have to swap memory out and that will. It depends
on how much ram you have and what you are running.
