    Remove Adaware from Reg

Some time ago I had Adaware installed on my laptop. Used it but found
I like Spybot S&D better. When I start up Spybot it warns me that "you have
Adaware installed and that it might find some stuff from Spybot etc, etc."
I've checked the Registry and there still is an Adaware folder under
Current User. I thought the unistall would clean this out but evidently not.
Can I just delete the Adaware folder inside the Registry? It seems to have
about 10 or 12 values in it.

Spybot doesnt do that. My bet is that either you dont have Spybot the REAL
Spybot installed or that wasnt really Adaware.

Suggest you go to www.eon.net.au to download Spybot and www.lavasoft.de and
download Adaware, install them both, run them both and then leave them both
on your system. Spybot doesnt know some things Adaware does and Adaware isnt
as good at getting rid of some stuff as Spybot is. If you use the REAL ones
together, you are a lot better off than using either and not the other.

Yes, both products were and are the real deal.As I said I ditched Adaware
    since I
find that Spybot does enough for me. Again, my question is can I delete the
    Adaware
folder left in the Reg without causing a big problem?

Yes. If you are worried then back up your registry first - Start>Run> Then
type "regedit" (without the quotes) Then click OK. Click on Registry>Export
Registry File. Call it what you like and save it to your Desktop. An icon
will appear on your Desktop that if double clicked will put your registry
back to what it was before you deleted the Ad-aware entries

    Re: Remove Adaware from Reg

Went to the Reg and deleted the Adaware subfolder and then deleted
the Lavasoft main folder after I backed up the Reg to the desktop as you
said. All is working like I want it to now since I start up Spybot and am no
longer informed that I have Adaware installed. Spybot starts right up.
Thanks. Should I ditch that Reg backup I created on the desktop?

If all is OK, yes. If you leave it on your Desktop too long you may run it
by accident and it will put you registry back to before you edited it. This
includes un-doing any changes made by your system to the registry after the
registry back up. i.e. program installs / changes
