Is there not an uninstall entry in Control Panel/Add or Remove etc.?
There is here, also using Windows XP.

If you've tried that, and it didn't work/work properly, you'd be doing
other users a favour by confirming that, or otherwise, and exactly what
the problem(s) was/were.

I've no intention of uninstalling Spybot as things are, but you never
know.
