    Windows as spyware

Greetings all, could anyone in the know tell me from Win 95 to 98 if it had
the current capacity to any degree of calling home as XP does today? Was 98
in particular given to any processes that could tell Redmond what software
on was running, what files on had, or to any degree transmit a boot log or
for that matter any info that is none of their business? How does Win 2K
fit in with the capacity to call home? Thanks in advance.
