Thanks TL!!
I'll have to look at that and give it a shot. More to come later.

I was working on a friends system and the virial infection actually messed up -appearingly- working Norton Internet Security so bad that no application could connect to the Internet/Network despite the NIC working fine and the Network connection icon in the system tray showing a valid connection!
In short, disabling All Norton/Symantec related process, startup entry and service didn't help a bit but once I used Autoruns to disable (uncheck) the related entries I mentioned, that alone got the system working.
But I recommend you go through the entire list under 'Everything' while running in Safe Mode, then once you disabled or deleted the entries, reboot your system in Normal mode to check.Disabling is safer yet deleting is permanent and more effective as long as you are certain of the selected entries.
I always disable (unchecking the box) first and then rebooting to see if your actions were accurate, then delete if needed.
Good Luck!

PS a new software related sticky I am working on will have Autoruns in it since it is a very useful utility imho.

YAY!!
Well, today I finally worked on it and got it fixed. It took me a while. When I pulled the card out my computer kinda freaked as it wasn't there...but I used autoruns after I put the card back in and reinstalled all the drivers.
I killed the ones that said, File Not Found, for the drivers. Now it looks to be all set.
Thanks everyone!!
TL - Definitely a good find there.

Glad to hear you had good luck with that program.
Yes, I like the depth and the detail the program scans into various sections but that also makes it a pretty dangerous tool for inexperienced users.
Anyhow, good job GK!![]()

Thanks TL!! I'm trying to give what little help I can be around here. If I wasn't a college student I could be of more service...but not only do I go to school full-time, I work 35-40 hours/week, and I balance an apartment and fiancee so...

Hi. Know your problem is fixed, but was plowing around today (to fix another problem) and found this little freeware you might be interested in for future reference. It's at major geeks called Double Driver 1.0, dated 10.19.2005 and it's a freeware. It says it requires All Wins and has a rating of 4.91 (out of 5). It's 1.4 MBs.
The description says "with Double Driver you can view which drivers are installed in your system and you can backup the drivers you choose, save and print the drivers list, and more."
When things go down, it's nice to have it somewhere else...or at least a trail to it. I plan on checking it out myself, but haven't executed the download yet.
Just a note in passing. Hope it's something considerable for your back-up purposes.
