    LOP toolbar...

I have the most irritating b*stard piece of sh*tware on my machine!

1 How the hell did it get onto my machine? My machine was left online with
Yahoo Messenger and MSN messenger running, nothing else for about a day. I
then find there's 40 pieces of scumware found by Ad-Aware, that were
apparently removed. I have Tiny Firewall, and AntiVir running to protect my
system. It is worrying this crap can get on your machine when you're not
    even using the computer!

2 How do I uninstall the LOP toolbar, Ad-Aware and SpyBot find nothing, yet
when I open up internet explorer it's there! I've run an installer available
on LOP.com, but it does f*ck all!

Please help before I cricket bat my PC into oblivion!

    )

    Thanks,

    Strutter

I assume you mean c2.lop which Spybot DOES know. If it isn't picking it up,
run advanced mode and make sure it isn't auto marked to be EXCLUDED from a
    search.

Your system settings are too soft. LOP is a nasty parasite.
    Follow the advice here:

Ad-Aware and SpyBot both have updates available in the last couple of days.
Insure that Ad-Aware is at V6.181 and that you have check for beta includes
    in SpyBot Settings.

It's not your PC's fault. It's the parasitic money grabbing advertisers
    that need the cricket bat.

I use IE-SPYAD that places these nasty sites into the IE Restricted Zone.

I use a HOSTS file to stop these sites even displaying.
