    Ad-aware misses Limeshop spyware

I've been running Ad-aware for some time now with confidence....until I
found Limeshop spyware on my machine...

This just goes to show that you can't trust anyone anymore...

    Anyone else?

It's not a matter of trust. It's been said over and over that one program
isn't enough. Try running Ad-aware and then run Spybot S/D or the other way
around. Most likely you will find some with both.
Also how long had the Limeshop been on your machine?
Not that it makes it any better but I think Limeshop is Adware and you have
to allow it in. It still sucks.

I found it when I ran NETSTAT. I traced it down to Limeshop. I've had it on
my machine for about 2 years I would guess...

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try the Spybot...

AdAware and Spybot S&D, backed up with HijackThis, is better yet.

I hate spam - PLEASE get rid of the spam before emailing me!
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Look, can you say how long this one's been out? Perhaps you have a
Zero-Day trojan there. There is a lag time between the emergence of a
threat and the time security and software vendors are able to react. I
don't like it anymore than you do, but it's a fact of life in this
    business.

I suggest submitting the executable and anything else you can to
Patrick Kolla of SpyBot and the folks at Ad-Aware. Email me at
yosponge(followed by the number two) at yahoo dot com and I will put
    you in touch with them.

Bah to that. I have Adcontroller on my machine. Nothing has picked it up yet
and I only knew it was there because I was bored and fidgeting around C
drive. Been there since early 2001. Been using Adaware since 2000 and Spybot
late 2001. Neither know anything about it.

Have you been updating each program. Not being a smart ass but some never
    do.

How do you use NETSTAT to find spyware?

    Apparently for freeBSD
