    Avoid www.searchv.com at all costs

www.searchv.com is a really nasty scummy scummy perverted web site that
tries to put on the face of being a search service.

They upload files into your computer that permanently change your home page
to their site, then lock out changes so you have to use regedit and several
spyware and cleaner programs to get rid of all their crap.

Spread the word. Stay away form them!

Assuming for a moment that they did what you claim, such hijackings are
    preventable.

STOP SURFING TO UNKNOWN WEB SITES WITH SCRIPTING ON.

Unless you really REALLY trust a particular site, you should NEVER surf with
scripting on. Otherwise you run the risk of having unknown people playing
    with your computer settings.

You can batten down the hatches a bit.....to prevent this kind of thing from
    reoccurring....

..... Go to IE > Tools > Windows Update > Product Updates, and install ALL
    Security Updates listed.

......Go toTools/ Internet Options/Security/Internet, press 'default level',
    then OK.
    Now press "Custom Level."
In the ActiveX section, set the first two options ("Download signed and
unsigned ActiveX controls) to 'prompt', and 'Initialize and Script ActiveX
controls not marked as safe" to 'disable'.

........then go to the "Advanced" tab....uncheck both "enable install on
    demand" entries.

I find myself, almost daily, on some of the dodgiest, scummiest sites you
could imagine.....& I've remained free of hijacks & unwanted crap slithering
    onto my computer.

Check out "Spyware Blaster" & Spyware Guard too....Javacool has created
these wonderful free programs .....HERE---> http://www.wilderssecurity.net/

www.searchv.com is in my host file. Don't you use a host file?

I do better than that. Internet Junkbuster plus Kerio Firewall. That still
doesn't solve the problem. You can't possibly know every malicious website
out there. Nobody can. Don't let any of them (known or not) take control
    of your computer.
