If you're blocking Microsoft in your firewall -- using one of my Kerio
rules files or something -- just uncheck or deactivate the rules
pertaining to Microsoft. You may also need to deactivate any Akamai
rules if you have any.

If you disabled ActiveX in your Internet Zone, leave it off. If not,
disable everything having to do with ActiveX in the Security panel of
your Internet Options menu. Place the following line in the Sites item
for your Trusted Zone
*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com

If you are using a HOSTS file, DNSKong, or set up your browser to use
a proxy like Proxomitron, make sure you remove any entries referring
to "microsoft".
