    windows update self-inflicted blockage

okay, so i got 'noided out a while back and followed some tip i found
somewhere to disable my access to windows update. but now i'd like to
access windows update again, and i can't recall what the heck i did to
disable it. anyone have any clues for rent?...

right now when i try to access windows update, i get "access denied"
because of whatever setting it is i made. and no-sir-ee-bawb, its not
the pirated key winupdate block dealie either...

thanks for any brain injuries incurred in tryin' to cypher this one.

Are you using a firewall ? Check to see if you told it to block
    Windows update.

It's also possible you turned your ActiveX security to Max and removed the
    Windows Update control.

Try going to the direct site and not the generic that just redirects you.

Scuttlebutt - You have a Trusted Publisher List in IE, how about an
    untrusted list?
