Screen resizeing and numerous popup windows.

I have a friend who was surfing on sporting news and after he
restarted his computer the next day his monitor screen was narrowed
down and he had numerous popup windows opening on his desktop.
He never installed any software or opened any email that day. Do you
spyware experts have any idea what would cause this.

Hello D11,
Not entirely certain what the particular nasty your friend caught was,
but I would download and run Ad-Aware and/or Spybot before doing
anything else.
You may also want to consider disabling or setting to "prompt" active
