    Regcleaner

I'm a regular user of Spybot, Adaware, Hijack This and The Cleaner. I
thought I had a clean system.

I just tried Regcleaner. It found registry entries for AOL Messenger,
Yahoo Pager, Get Right, Imesh, Kazaa and Netscape Navigator. I never
downloaded or used any of these programs. So, how did they get into my
    registry?

No way to tell. Just delete everything in the registry and the problem will
go away. Nothing stored in the registry is important.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This statement is true only if
    1. You back up your registry before you begin deleting stuff.
    2. You have installation CDs for all the programs that you use.
    3. You know how to deal with a peecee that won't boot up anymore.
    4. The time you spend putzing with your peecee is not important.

    IMHO
This might be funny among persons that know better and if you know
everyone's knowledge of puters. But to say "Just delete everything in
the registry and the problem will go away. Nothing stored in the registry
    is important."
in a a NG that is suppose to give help is like giving out virus disk.

NEWBIE ALERT: It is safe to presume that anything posted by "Prince Albert
Innahkan" <albert@royaltymanor.net> (or "Lord Avner Williamsburr Smythe"
<smythe@unknown.net>, or "Rev. Quentin P. Johannas"
<qpjohannas@heavenhelpus.invalid> -- all the same idiot, under different
alii) is a complete load of crap.

In this particular case, the "advice" proffered is downright dangerous.

Which "Reg Cleaner" - post the URL where you got it.
Most are trash, with few exceptions.

Make sure you have configured a Backup/ remove everything except Netscape, if you're
running IE, that's there by design.

I find it hard to believe that what you say was never installed by you got there by
itself, especially AOL Messenger and Yahoo Pager! These may "phone home" but don't get
    installed by Spyware.

Your Registry Cleaner can be had at the default site, here: http://www.jv16.org/
