Found NMAPSERV.EXE running in Task Manager - spyware?

Looking through Processes in Task Manager on my WinXP machine, and
    noticed NMAPSERV.EXE.

I have NMap Win installed on my PC, which I downloaded to play around
with; but is it necessary for NMAPSERV.EXE to be running in the
background, even though NMap is not open or being used?

I checked nmapserv.log, and it didn't seem to be collecting anything
important about me; is NMAPSERV.EXE some kind of spyware that came witn
    NMap Win?

The only problem with that is that pestpatrol isn't right in this case.

You don't NEED the service to be running all the time, for sure. It is easy
to stop the service running at ANY time without having to remove it then
enable it again when you want to run Nmap.

I don't trust much of what Pestpatrol has to say, though, to be totally
    honest.

The service is for automatically running scans. You do not need the service
unless you need this functionality. AFAIK, it is not spyware. You can turn
it off from the "Service" tab in Nmap Win.
