What is fox mail for starters? It is very possible that whatever this is cannot be used with AOL. Very few other programs for mail and internet usage can be used by AOL users, they require you use their program.

    Foxmail

Foxmail is being used as a mail client. Similar to Outlook Express amongst others.

Have searched everywhere and, while info on Foxmail is hard to find but did find quite a lot but nowhere could I find that it was compatible with AOL. Found several questions on some French websites that I had to translate and on those also it seemed to be that compatibility with AOL may be a problem.
Maybe somebody else will have an answer.

My HUMBLE apologies to xonk and others keeping track of this thread. This morning while posting a reply I inadvertently removed xonk's last post. I am hoping he will come back and repost it. He did comment that he was really just trying out this program and that he is unable at this time to change his internet provider from AOL.

    Foxmail

    Hi JHolland1964

Funnily my response which you inadvertently seems to have lost, I am also not able to locate. The contents of that response did mention something in connection with my ISP which is AOL and that for contractual reasons I was not going to change it.
Having said that I have also investigated further as far as the use of IMAP using Foxmail and discovered that I am wasting my time in trying to utilize it using IMAP along with AOL as the quote / unquote suggests

    quote

Have came across a few things since your response which suggests that Foxmail as my mail client is not going to function.
This is an example of what I read

    quote
Unfortunately, it doesn't support IMAP accounts and its message editor lacks basic text (re-formatting tools

    Pros
    • Foxmail comes with good spam filtering options and supports email security
    • Easy and fun to use, Foxmail also sports great new mail notification
    • Foxmail supports HTML and stationery

    Cons
    • Foxmail lacks support for IMAP
    • Message editor can't properly re-wrap text
    • Training the Bayesian filter included in Foxmail is a bit cumbersome

    unquote

Bearing in mind what was said about lack of support for IMAP it is probably best to give it a miss and save myself a lot of bother.

Even though AOL supports IMAP whereas previously it did not, in this case Foxmail seems to be the one not doing so.

    Any further thoughts appreciated
