I found this post and couldn't reply, so i've started a new thread.

I had a similar problem and decided to contact CommonName customer
support. They were very helpful and sent me this e-mail response. It
worked!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your email,

Please accept our apologies for the problems you have experienced.

When un-installing CommonName the only way to do so correctly is to
use our online uninstaller accessed through

START > PROGRAMS > COMMONNAME > UNINSTALL COMMONNAME

or

START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS > COMMONNAME

Using any other method may produce unwanted effects such as you
described.

To remedy this you need to re-install CommonName by clicking on the
following link http://www.commonname.com/eng/download/cnbabeie4.exe.
Once you have done this please use 'Add-remove programs' to remove
CommonName.

We understand that it may seem strange to have to reinstall to
uninstall but please bear with us. Re-installing
replaces files that are essential to the uninstall process.

We ask users who wish to remove our software to re-install because
programs like 'ad-aware' and 'spybot' remove important files that are
needed to completely remove the software. Furthermore, we are unable
to control what 'Adaware' deems as 'Spyware'. All I can do is assure
you that CommonName does not compile, collect or track any
identifiable details and as a result we can not divulge any
information to any 3rd party and are therefore 100% security safe.

If you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to contact
us again. Please include your Windows and Browser version
(e.g. Win98 and IE 5.5) and all previous correspondence with us.

Hi

Operating system is Windows XP Pro with SP1 applied.

I run Spybot S & D several times daily. For the last few days it's
been
finding CommonName in c:\Program files\CommonName, but can't get rid
of
it. I get a message saying that it can't fix the problem because some
of
the components are in memory, and asks if it can run on next startup.
I
say "Yes", but on next checking it still finds the program.

Now, every time I start up I get an error message which tells me that
there has been an error loading
c:\Program Files\CommonName\Toolbar\CNBabe.dll

I go to the Windows Startup Manager, where I find an entry:

Name : Zenet
Command Line: rundll32.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~2\Toolbar\CNBabe.dll,DllStartup
Location : Registry... Local machine\Run

So I delete the entry from the registry, but can't delete the folder
c:\Program files\CommonName because it's in use.

When I reboot I get the same error message re CNBabe.dll, the registry
contains the Zenet entry which I deleted, and the startup Manager once
again shows the Run Zenet entry.

I tried starting in safe mode, but exactly the same problem happens.

Any ideas, anyone? It's driving me mad.
