    keeping it simple

it looks like there is a lot of steps for ad blocking and such. I downloaded
the google toolbar and it seems to be the best pop up stopper ive tried.
outside of this im using the proxo hosts file merged with the one from
mvps.org. I used hostess for the merging. I just use my router for a
firewall although i know the advantages of using a software one also. I also
keep adaware updated and scan once in a while. Is this a effective setup?

    thanks

    One More Time:

The ONLY "pop up stopper" anyone ever needs is to set up their system (and
especially their web browser) correctly. For the most part, this means
*removing* (or disabling) things, not *adding* things.

Beyond that, the Google Toolbar is itself spyware:

See bullet point #6, in particular.
